Whew! Somebody throw us a sweat towel and a Gatorade because this flavor trailer is full-steam ahead and we’re just over here holding on for dear life, doing our best to keep up without faceplanting in the parking lot.
Let’s catch you up real quick. This week we:
Picked up our trailer!!!
And immediately celebrated with dinner and drinks on the water with the original owners, aka our new besties for life. These two legends built something special and we’re so dang honored to carry the torch (and the tongs).

Got inspected. AND PASSED.
Like, with flying colors. Shiny gold star for Team Chef’s Playground and huge shoutout to the McHenry County Health Department for being legit cool to work with throughout this whole wild ride so far.
Registered and got the street-legal tags to prove it.
It only took three DMV visits and one near-meltdown from Smash this time. (Please send good vibes and emotional support snacks, she’s still recovering.)
Dropped our baby off for a lil glow-up.
Our pals at Invictus Vinyl are hooking us up with temporary decals while we scheme and dream up a full wrap that screams “this chef knows how to party.” We’ll get the full wrap done…when we can find a free day.
Booked FOUR NEW GIGS this week alone.
We’re not sure what’s happening but apparently the word’s out and our inbox is blowing up. Keep your eyes on our event calendar for updates – it’s getting beefier by the minute.
Prepped for a private launch party this weekend!!
We’re throwing a little bash for friends & fam to say thank you to our crew of ride-or-dies who have had our backs from day one – and get some practice before our first real gig next week. We figured with a last-minute invite, on a summer Saturday, we’d be lucky if a few people showed up. Joke’s on us – we’ve got 70+ RSVPs and counting. Y’all are truly the real MVPs.
Lessons from the Flavor Trenches
Here’s what we’ve learned so far:
- Everything you’ve heard about working for yourself is 1000% true – you love it so hard it doesn’t feel like work, and yet somehow you’re working harder than you’ve ever worked in your life.
- “The smaller the trailer, the harder it is to back up.” – Advice we’ve gotten from at least three separate bystanders in different locations who saw us struggling in reverse.
- The food truck scene is NOT for the faint of heart. There are a million moving pieces (and we’re still fumbling with half of them). But the community is magic – huge shoutout to every veteran food trucker who’s answered our panicked DMs or offered us a hand. We see you. We love you. We promise we’ll pay it forward…once we figure out what the f*$% we’re doing.
Gotta get back to chopping, prepping, and trying to remember what day it is.
But stay tuned for the launch party recap, and come see us in real life for our first public gig at Pearl Street Market’s “Back 2 School” Night in McHenry, next Thursday from 5–8:30 PM. Let’s kick this thing off like a cafeteria lunch tray straight into the stratosphere!
